Welcome back! Here is an overview of our learning activities for the week commencing 6h January 2025.
This term, Willow class will still have PE on Tuesday afternoon and Thursday morning. Please make sure your child has their full PE kit in school on these days. We will be learning about gymnastics and dance this term.
This week in Phonics we will be learning about words with long vowels in them (such as ‘a’ in acorn, ’e’ in emu, ‘i’ in lion, ‘o’ in hotel and ‘u’ in unicorn). We will also be learning to read the words ‘who’ and ‘why’ and to spell the words ‘want’ and ‘their’.
In English, we will be talking about the differences between fiction and non-fiction texts. We will then start looking at the features of non-chronological reports.
In Maths, we will be investigating ways to represent the numbers 17 to 20 and completing some questions about these numbers.
In our Science lesson we will be learning about winter and thinking about seasonal changes.
In Computing, we will be practising giving and acting out instructions in preparation for programming some Bee-Bots.
We are starting a new topic in RE ('Gospel') and our key question for the term is: What is the Good News that Jesus brings for Christians? This week we are learning about what the word ‘Gospel’ means and will listen to the story of Matthew the Tax Collector.
